Daydream, Food

Friday daydreaming.

This week, I’m dreaming of a full vegetable garden.

We inherited a vegetable garden when we bought our house. I am very happy with this, but I’m also completely overwhelmed. It’s not that it’s a big space, and I am quite excited to acquire the vegetable gardening skill; it’s just that I have no real idea what to do. B brought home a whole bunch of different seeds the other day, and, after I freaked out, I came to the conclusion, we’ll just plant them and see what happens! This doesn’t have to be a high pressure situation.

I know that the space should be exposed to 6-8 hours of sun per day. I know you should think through what to plant together and how to lay it out. And testing the soil is a good idea. Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out. It’s just about time to get planting up in these New England parts. The man at our local grocery store told me I had until Mother’s Day. I am going to trust his advice.

Have a fantastic weekend! Tonight I’m having dinner with two friends to celebrate a birthday. I can’t wait! And tomorrow, I’ll be planting seeds.

PS A helpful guide on what to plant with what.

PPS Here’s a really detailed post on different types of garden planting strategy.
